Q) How can I find the Kimball church building?
A) Kimball, Tennessee is located in the heart of the beautiful Sequatchie Valley. You will find us about 25 miles west of Chattanooga and 90 miles southeast of Nashville on Interstate 24 at exit 152 (turn left of the exit ramp).

The church building is located just 1/2 mile from the exit on Highway 41.

Q) Can you tell me a little about the church at Kimball?
A) The Church of Christ in Kimball is the fastest growing church in the valley. Our Sunday morning attendance averages around 160 and sometimes it approaches 200. We would love to have you visit us at any of our services. Remember, you can view our services anytime on our web site.

Our services are archived for several weeks on the web.

Sunday Morning Bible Classes: 10:00 AM

Sunday Morning Worship: 11:00 AM

Sunday Evening Worship: 6:00 PM

Wednesday Evening Bible Classes: 7:00 PM

Q) What does the Church of Christ believe?
A) The church at Kimball does not claim to be any denomination. We are not governed by a central headquarters or any other centralized organization. The church is autonomous (self-governing) under the authority of only one head which is Christ. We have no creed or declaration of faith besides the Bible. Specifically, we follow the New Covenant which includes the teachings of Jesus and his apostles.

Q) What could I expect at a typical worship service?
A) The worship at the Kimball Church of Christ could probably be described as "primitive." By primitive, I mean that the worship is simple in its form. There are five acts of worship which we practice.

The first of these is prayer. Prayers are generally led near the beginning of the service, before the taking of the Lord's Supper, and at the closing of each service.

The second act of worship is giving. Only members of the church are expected to give at our services. All works of the church are supported through the free-will giving of our members.

We also partake of the Lord's supper at each Sunday morning service. This includes the bread and the fruit of the vine. The Lord's Supper is also served each Sunday evening for those who were unable to attend on Sunday morning.

Fourthly, we practice acapella singing. We sing without musical instruments just as the early church did. All singing is congregational. This means that we do not have soloists or choirs. This type of singing allows each individual to sing with melody in his heart. "Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord." Ephesians 5:19

Finally, we always have a message from the Bible. At the end of each sermon, it is a tradition that the congregation rise to sing a "song of encouragement." This is considered a convenient time for individuals to come before the congregation to ask for prayers, repent of public wrong, or become a Christian. Again, this voluntary. We never point out people or coerce them to respond. All visitors are treated friendly with respect.

In our services we strive to worship God "in Spirit and in Truth" (John 4:23). Although we strive to have worship services which are uplifting to all of those in attendance, our primary goal is to lift up the name of God in all that we do.

Q) Who is the pastor at the Kimball Church of Christ?
A) We actually have five pastors. We also refer to them as elders, bishops, shepherds, overseers, or presbyters. Our current pastors are David Jackson, Sr., John Lofty, Tony Songer, Billy Watkins, and Rob Woodfin. . These five men oversee the work of the church and as shepherds have authority over the flock.

We also have nine men who serve as Deacons. These men serve in various roles as the elders assign them. Our Deacons are:

Gary Dawkins Missions
Berry Fraley Youth Director
Danny Hale Special Programs
Randy Hawkins Maintenance
Scott Hawkins Building and Finance
Chris Nelson Benevolence
John Newton Worship and Events
David Payne, Jr. Youth Activities
Sam Warren Electronic and Internet Media

In addition, the church employs an evangelist whose main purpose is to preach the gospel. Billy Watkins has been supported by the church full-time for more than 20 years. Billy is the full time preacher and also serves the congregation in many other ways. Billy was recently selected by the congregation and appointed to be an elder at Kimball.
